London Gem n Bead Fair
This is our last show of the year. Kempton Park is the largest Gem n Bead Fair with over 50 exhibitors in a huge hall, just off the M3. It’s a great show for all semi precious beads, findings, and everything to make jewellery. Along with many large rocks and crystals. The venue even has its own railway station with trains into central London every 30-minutes. On entry, go round clockwise and start from the back.
Why Freshly-Made Jewellery Sells Faster Than Old Designs
Shoppers are more likely to buy something that feels new and exciting
Jewellery has always expressed elegance. Over time styles have evolved, drawing from historical, cultural, and modern influences. Consumers prefer freshly made designs because they sense they’re up-to-date.
Trendy and Fashion-Forward
New jewellery reflects the latest trends in fashion. Whether inspired by recent runway looks, celebrity styles, or current social movements. Consumers, especially younger buyers, are highly influenced by trends. Like clothing, jewellery is a reflection of the time. Also, some young consumers desire novelty, and see older designs as outdated
Exclusivity and Uniqueness
Freshly made jewellery often comes in limited-editions – creating a sense of exclusivity and something special. Consumers are drawn to the idea of owning something new and unique, driving faster sales.
Innovation in Craftsmanship and Materials
Buyers today are interested in the story behind the piece, and eco-friendly is important to them. Jewellery using sustainable materials, or cutting-edge elements is appealing, especially to millennials and Gen Z. Older designs are less compelling.
Customization and Personalization
Consumers increasingly crave personalization, and new jewellery is often more adaptable. Buyers like custom-made pieces or being able to tweak designs to suit their taste. Whether it’s adjusting the style, altering the metal, or adding extras. A personal touch enhances value.
Social Media and Modern Marketing
In today’s digital age, new jewellery benefits from the immediacy of social media’s online marketing. Creating buzz and a fear of missing out, leading to quicker sales. Jewellers use Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest to showcase their latest designs in real time. These platforms thrive on visual content. Perfect for highlighting the beauty of new pieces. Older designs lack excitement or urgency.
Appeal to Emotional Impulse Buying
Freshly made jewellery often taps into the emotions of consumers. New designs evoke a sense of excitement, discovery, or self-expression – driving impulse purchases.
CITRINE FOR NOVEMBER
Citrine is an alternative to topaz as the birthstone for November. Sunny and affordable, citrine brightens winter jewellery, blending especially well with the yellow gleam of gold. Yellow is a natural reviver, and citrine focuses the mind bringing a feeling of self-esteem.
In medication it strengthens the link between conscious and subconscious. If you’re feeling down, hold citrine to lift your spirit. It’s also good at healing the body and communication. Citrine promotes warm energy, optimism, and attracts abundance.
Citrine removes negative energy, and in ancient times it was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts. Known as a “merchants’ stone”, placed in the cash register to acquire and keep wealth.
Citrine corresponds to signs of Gemini, Aries, Libra, and Leo.
Although the darker orange colours of citrine, have generally been the most valued – today people prefer the bright lemony shades which mix better with pastel colours.
Some call citrine topaz quartz – referring to the colour, which is similar to topaz. Since topaz is a separate mineral, this is incorrect.

Bead Fair Reports
Norwich
This is one of our best, and this one was BOOMING! A continuous stream of visitors, many big spenders, and a packed hall throughout. Two ladies were so keen they turned up two-hours early! Sorry to run out of biscuits mid-afternoon – never happened before. Hungry beaders!
London Luton
Not as busy as our spring Luton show, but still good, despite heavy rain in the morning. Many visitors up the M1 from London.
Oxfordshire
Much quieter than usual at this village hall, despite more marketing. I’m sure this was due to a storm warning and very heavy rain in the morning. However, we still sold more beads than we do at some 2-day Gem n Bead Fairs. Amazingly, we had one buyer from London who visited both shows and a 3-year-old beader!
2025 Bead Fairs
Next weekend, 9th-10th November : London Gem n Bead Fair, Kempton Park Racecourse, Staines Road East, London TW16 5AQ. The last of our 2024 bead shows.
That’s it this year – first show of 2025 will be at Harrogate Gem n Bead Fair in February. For shows booked so far next year, click: 2025 Bead Fairs. We’ll be at a few new areas, including Swindon.
