November Sparkle: Make Your Own Semi-Precious Beaded Jewellery

November BeadingAs the days grow shorter and the evenings get cosier – November’s the perfect time to get creative with semi-precious beads and make beautiful jewellery.

Semi Precious BeadsThere’s something special about working with natural gemstones. From the rich purple of amethyst and the deep red tones of garnet to the warm golden shades of tiger’s eye. Every bead has its own character, colour and charm.

Why not make a necklace to brighten up a winter outfit? A bracelet for a thoughtful Christmas gift. Or a pair of earrings to add a sparkle to the festive season ahead. Combining different gemstone colours, shapes and sizes lets you create something truly personal and unique.

Jewellery MakingMaking beaded jewellery is also a wonderfully relaxing hobby. Whether you’re an experienced jewellery maker or just starting out – experiment with new designs, discover beautiful bead combinations and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands.

CITRINE FOR NOVEMBER

citrine beadsCitrine is an alternative to topaz as the birthstone for November. Sunny and affordable, citrine brightens winter jewellery, blending especially well with the yellow gleam of gold. Yellow is a natural reviver, and citrine focuses the mind bringing a feeling of self-esteem.

Citrine BeadsIn medication it strengthens the link between conscious and subconscious. If you’re feeling down, hold citrine to lift your spirit. It’s also good at healing the body and communication. Citrine promotes warm energy, optimism, and attracts abundance.

Citrine BeadsCitrine removes negative energy, and  in ancient times it was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts. Known as a “merchants’ stone”, placed in the cash register to acquire and keep wealth. Citrine corresponds to signs of Gemini, Aries, Libra, and Leo.

Citrine BeadsAlthough the darker orange colours of citrine, have generally been the most valued – today people prefer the bright lemony shades which mix better with pastel colours.

Citrine BraceletSome call citrine topaz quartz – referring to the colour, which is similar to topaz. Since topaz is a separate mineral, this is incorrect.

Bead Fair Report

Cambridge Bead Fair
Cambridge Bead FairCambridge Bead FairAs usual this was a booming show for us, with may serious semi precious visitors. We’ll be back in Cambridge three times in 2027.

Norwich Bead Fair
Norwich Bead FairNorwich Bead Fair
Norfolk DelaysAs usual, Norwich was buzzing. Lots of visitors, many new – one from Essex, 3-hours away. However, a slightly slow start, as lots of Norfolk roads were closed – including the busy A47, because of a 50-tonne transporting carrying parts for the net zero project. We’ll be back in Norwich early spring.

Enjoy a Bead Fair Soon

Windsor Bead FairBead shows are great fun. You’ll love them! Bring a trolley, as beads get heavy. Take some cash, as a few venues have a weak signal for card payments. Talk to the vendors and other visitors to inspire new design ideas. Make a note of what you paid for beads, and keep exhibitors’ business cards and leaflets.
