Bead Fair Reports – 4 more bumper shows!
Cornish Bead Fair, Wadebridge
A bit slower than the last Cornish show in Probus, just a month before. These two fairs are usually spaced out more, but the hall in Probus wasn’t available until July because of covid restrictions.
Berwick-Upon-Tweed Bead Fair
Our best Berwick ever! Lots of visitors, apart from our regulars. Two ladies even travelled by train and bus from Edinburgh. Beaders seek us out in the smallest of villages!

Scottish Bead Fair, Perth
A little quieter than expected at this beautiful hotel where Queen Victoria once stayed. Many thanks to Southampton Bead Shop for attending and Joanne’s excellent workshop.

Harrogate Gem n Bead Fair
A lot quieter than expected, with only a few of our regular visitors present. No idea why, especially as it’s over 18-months since this once-popular fair. Less exhibitors than usual too.

Earring Design
Some say earrings are the most important piece of jewellery – because they’re the first to be noticed meeting a lady.
They strand out and showcase a face, making an instant first impression. They should express the wearer’s personality.
Earrings are fashionable right now, and create a mood like no other jewellery. They’re also fun to design – think themes or individual designs that are different. Big and bold is the style of 2021.
Although they can be simple buttons fitted close to the ear, or large long dangles framing half the face. Expensive statement earrings grab attention, while lower-priced designs make great add-on purchases. Combine as sets with necklaces and bracelets to make more money.
Usually earrings are one-size-fits-all, so there is a lot of sales potential. If you don’t want to shape wire for individual designs, use ready made ear wires, hooks and other earring findings.

Icicles are hot! They’re not just for Christmas.
If you want your designs to stand out, use icicle beads to make dramatic jewellery.
These are also inexpensive, as each string has many because they’re slim and top-drilled. Use a few for a necklace and a couple for matching earrings.

Sunday 26th September: Cambridge Bead Fair, 20 High Street, Harston CB22 7PX – Just 15-mins from J11 M11 or Cambridge.
Sunday 3rd October: Beads Up North, Haydock Racecourse, Newton-le-Willows WA12 0HQ. If you would like to exhibit at Haydock, there’s still a few spaces left – click the link on the show’s site.
