Pendants, Wire Wrapping & Finger Rings

14th March 2021

Bead fairs can start from 17th May, but limited indoors to 1,000 people or half the venue’s capacity, whichever is lower.

This means all smaller shows are allowed. I’m waiting on the Gem n Bead Fair schedules, before booking other dates. However, check our bookings soon at Bead Fairs 2021.

Until then, order supplies online. With MrBead’s no question refund – you have nothing to loose!  New MrBead Shop: https://mrbeadshop.com

Happy Day Mothers!

What do you give to Mother? She longs for something special, but already has everything.

The gifts that mean the most, are the ones that have memories attached to them.

Presents are important. Mother’s say that every time they receive something special from their children, they remember the exact circumstances for the gift.

Mothers Day BeadsWhat would mother like on her special day?  Beads of course!  It’s a bit late to make now, but you must have jewellery ready. A special necklace or bracelet for your mother and mother-in-law would make them happy.

Jewellery is always appreciated, and gains sentimental value with age, allowing Mother to always remember who it came from. Pearls are great, but any pink or warm-coloured stone jewellery would be appreciated!

Pendants Make easy necklaces

Bead PendantsPendants save you time. You can either buy them ready made, or make your own. Picture shows what Phil, from the Gem n Bead Fairs, made in ten minutes with some of our beads.

Bead PendantsSometimes, you just need to string a pendant, and you’re away! Pendants are ready-made to be hang onto a necklace, and in most cases you’ll need to add other beads and a catch. Some of the smaller pendants can also be used for matching earrings.

MrBead has many pendants to make necklaces easy for you: Pendants

Wire Wrapping
This is another way to make a pendant. Wire wrapping is an and easy way to make great pendants to use as originally-designed classy necklaces. All you need is some craft wire, a few pliers and something to wrap.

Wire WrappingAlmost anything can be wrapped, from river and beach rocks, sea glass, tumbled stone to more-expensive gemstones. With a little imagination you will be able to produce stunning jewellery.

At first it will take a while, but as you gain experience you should be able to wrap a stone in just a few minutes. Practice with a roll of cheap wire from your local hardware store. Then when you get the hang of it, buy 18-gauge craft wire online.

Pointed Beading PliersMost people start using wire cutters and needle-nose pliers – but flat-nose, nylon-jaw and round-nose pliers are better. Invest in a pair of good nylon jaw pliers, as they’re especially designed for shaping craft wire and wire wrapping. The nylon jaws protect the surface of the wire, avoiding rebuffing the wire after forming.

Google ‘Wire Wrapping’ for ideas on design and style, but there are endless possibilities twisting and turning. The raw simplicity of the technique and the satisfaction of creating original designs make it so much fun.

The club boasts a book and video library, workshops – and after lockdown, will meet in Norwich on the first Tuesday of the month from 7.30pm. All their members have a deep passion for mineral rocks and fossils, and are very helpful to new members.

Finger Rings

Semi Precious RingsWhy Wear Rings
ringsFor thousands of years rings are worn to symbolise devotion, fidelity, eternity, authority and other believes.

Rings have the power to make a statement, telling others you’re in a committed relationship with another person, religion, or group.

Rings Can Be Worn On Any Finger:
• The tradition of wearing a wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand, is the belief that this finger has a vein running directly to the heart. A never-ending circle represents eternal love.

• A ring on the index finger symbolizes authority or power.

• On the little finger, a pinky ring draws attention, yet doesn’t have any cultural or religious significance. A thumb ring signifies longevity and good health – and the index finger is ideal for men to wear to show authority or as a class ring.

• Right hand rings are becoming fashionable. Often worn to mark a milestone in life, and sometimes called ‘cocktail rings’ – with bold, colourful gemstones.

Usually these are rings that women have bought for themselves and wearing them on the right hand is a way of ensuring that they are not confused with an engagement ring or wedding band.finger ringsFull Finger Gothic RingMrBead has many rings, from subtle jade to full-finger gothic – Click MrBead’s Rings
