London Gem n Bead Fair

Kempton Park is huge – with over 50 exhibitors trading all gems: from diamonds to fossils, as well as semi precious beads. This is a place for ‘serious’ bead buyers, making expensive semi precious jewellery to sell – not hobbyist seed beaders!

Once you enter, go clockwise and head towards the back. There you can find MrBead with our huge range of semi precious. Despite costing almost £1,000 for our stand – we have so much stock we have to cram it in! Layering our trays and squeezing strings tightly together.

Entry is £6 per adult and refreshments are from an open-air caravan. Open 10am to 4pm Saturday & Sunday.

Bead Fair Report

Norwich
After Cambridge, Norwich is our next-best show. And this one didn’t disappoint, although less than our spring fair. A constant flow of visitors from start to finish, with a slight lag around lunch time. See us back in Norwich on Sunday 13th October 2024.

Worcester
Our first time in this area, and not disappointed. I thought it would be busy with such a large catchment area – just 1/2-hour south of Birmingham. The hall was a bit small, but Southampton Bead Shop and us fitted in fine, with Healing Crystals in the foyer. All, very busy!

See us Saturday 10th August at Berwick-Upon-Tweed Bead Fair, Ancroft Village Hall, TD15 2T. Then Sunday 11th August at the Scottish Bead Fair, Normandy Hotel, Inchinnan Road, Renfrew, Glasgow PA4 9EJ. And the following weekend, 17-18th August, we’re at Harrogate Gem n Bead Fair, Great Yorkshire Showground, HG2 8NZ.

With rising tax & overheads, bead shops are closing all over the country. If you don’t like buying online, preferring to see & feel your beads, visit a bead fair.

Where Are The Shows?
‘Where is the Big Bead Show?’ Unfortunately, it looks like it’s closed for ever. We think they can’t get exhibitors – bead traders don’t want to pay. The next largest gathering of bead sellers is Beads Up North at Haydock Racecourse twice a year. This show also has jewellery-making workshops – where you can try your hand at beading with expert tuition.

Then there’s Gem n Bead Fairs, with mostly gem & mineral sellers. Leaving around 40 smaller bead-only fairs all over the UK. Many in convenient village halls that are easy to find and park. To see the 29 shows we’re attending this year, click 2024 Bead Fairs.

Organise Your Visit
Expect a lot of walking at larger shows. Take a trolley, as beads get heavy. A pen and paper is useful too. Look round before buying, making a note of prices. Some buyers like to bring some of their own beads to match – however, there’s an infinite variety, so be flexible.

Chat, Chat & Chat
Talk to the vendors and other visitors for education and to get new design ideas. Sit in the refreshment area and work out what else you need to purchase.

Take Cash
In 2024, all exhibitors have a card machine. However, sometimes there’s problems, so bring some cash too. Bring a list of things you need, but don’t miss out on anything you like.
