Bead Fair Reports

Tomorrow, Sunday 4th July, is our fourth bead fair since the last lockdown in 2020. It’s been tough! Last year we only managed 8 out of 32 shows – however, so far, it’s been good this year with about 19 shows booked to date. Our previous shows were in June at Luton and Essex.

Luton Bead Fair
This is only a small hall, so we had to really ‘pack ‘em in’. However, we managed to get lots of new beads we brought in 2020 on display, and they sold very well.

Attendance was exceptional, with most visitors arriving from North London. Which is less than half-an-hour up the M1 – and the hall is only 5-minutes from M1 junction 10. Some London visitors’ told me it was quicker getting to us in Luton than to our Highgate venue.

Luton Bead FairSales were also the best we’ve ever had at Luton. Perhaps the boom was because there wasn’t any other bead fairs around this time, or maybe due to more promotion in London. The hard work caring half-a-tonne of beads up and down the entrance steps was worthwhile – maybe we’ll book again later in the year.

Essex MrBead Fair
Essex Bead FairAgain, this was busy, with most visitors arriving from Colchester, Ipswich and the coastal towns. However, we enjoy guests from neighbouring villages – who are always so polite, and their rural outlooks are fascinating.

Essex Bead FairEssex Bead FairIt’s always so refreshing in this village hall – especially as we’re used to the hardship setting-up in towns with limited access and parking. And it always seems to be sunny in Essex

The village hall is quite large, so usually there is other exhibitors, but this time no one approached us, so we were on our own. If anyone is interested joining us in Essex in the future, please email Nigel.

Yellow Beads For Summer 2021

Yellow BeadsThe colours you choose reveal what’s in your head and your innermost feelings and emotions. They’re part of your personality. It’s likely you have one favourite colour.

Shell BraceletHowever, when you design jewellery for profit, don’t let personal likes influence what you make. Look into fashion and put popular colours together. This will help your sales.

Citrine BeadsYellow is in fashion for summer 2021. Vincent Van Gogh said “How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun”. Yellow draws attention and makes people feel cheerful and energized – but too much is aggressive and irritating, so don’t overdo it.
