April & May Beaded Jewellery
Spring Jewellery Ideas: Creating April and May Pieces with Semi-Precious Beads
As the days grow longer and nature bursts into colour – April and May are perfect to create fresh, light designs using semi-precious beads. Soft greens, delicate pastels, and sparkling clear stones reflect the feeling of new growth and warmer days.
April jewellery focuses on brightness and clarity. Although the traditional birthstone is diamond, many jewellery makers use alternatives like clear quartz, crystal, or moonstone to capture the same fresh sparkle. These pair wonderfully with silver findings and pale beads like white agate or light aquamarine. Simple drop earrings, floating bead necklaces, or delicate charm bracelets work especially well for spring.
By May, the colour palette deepens into rich greens and vibrant florals. The birthstone for May is moonstone – but green aventurine, jade, peridot, and moss agate make excellent alternatives. Reflecting the lush greenery of late spring – and look beautiful combined with warm gold findings or mixed with soft pinks like rose quartz.
Spring jewellery also lends to playful, nature-inspired designs. Consider incorporating flower bead caps, leaf charms, or small clusters of mixed semi-precious stones to mimic blooming gardens. Lightweight necklaces, layered bracelets, and colourful beaded earrings are especially popular as people begin wearing lighter clothing.
April and May designs are perfect for seasonal gifts and spring markets. Using semi-precious beads allows makers to create unique, natural pieces that capture the colours and energy of the season.

Norwich Bead Fair Report

Norwich is always busy – but this one was heaving! Especially in the first couple of hours. Very busy! However, a lot of visitors were new – some coming from two-hours away. We’ll be back in Norwich on Sunday 14th June – details at Norwich Bead Fair.
Mr & Mrs Beads Spanish Trip

Over Easter, Mi Mi and I spent a week around Alicante, Altea and Santa Polo. It’s always good to get away: even better to fly from Norwich. The highlights were the Fonts d’ Algar Waterfalls, Guadalest Castle, and the little Tabarca Island, off Santa Polo. Lots of seafood, with sun and no cloud every day.
Enjoy a Bead Fair Soon
Bead shows are great fun. You’ll love them! Bring a trolley, as beads get heavy. Take some cash, as a few venues have a weak signal for card payments. Talk to the vendors and other visitors to inspire new design ideas. Make a note of what you paid for beads, and keep exhibitors’ business cards and leaflets.
