Where Ideas To Create Jewellery Come From

1. Surround Yourself With The Right People
There’s an old saying, that you’re the sum of your five closest people.Beading & Jewellery Ideas

So if you want to inspire new jewellery design, join a beading group, or make friends with a great designer. Lockdown can stifle this creativity – so mix with others as soon as allowed.

2. Explore Your Creativity
Start with a blank canvas. Get all your beads out and just play around. Layout styles on a table or use a bead design board.

3. Step Back
Don’t get complacent. Take time off making jewellery, travel and talk to others. Visit an art gallery or a museum (opening soon). Inspiration is all around, if you open your eyes. The more diverse: the better.

4. Leave Your Comfort Zone
If you keep doing the same: you’ll get the same results. Do new things. Every time you leave your comfort zone, you’re progressing. The world’s greatest achievers’ all got their ideas doing something different.

5. Relax
If you try too hard, you’ll get ‘creative block’. Sometimes a relaxing holiday with inspiring books and new people can bring imaginative ideas. I find an airport business book read on a long flight very productive.

Make Jewellery For Weddings

Bridal JewelleryBecause of lockdowns, couples in 2020 only spent around £15,000 on their weddings, excluding honeymoon. Half as the year before. So if Boris keeps his word, big wedding will be back for 2021.

Wedding Jewellery
However, despite lockdown cut-backs, couples last year didn’t skimp on jewellery. Because grief draws attention to the fragility of life, as during wartime, sentiments and emotions aren’t compromised.

With this in mind, a bigger celebration and savings, this year brides’ will have a bumper jewellery budget to lash out on original designs!

Massive Market
Bridal NecklaceEvery bride wants to look her best, irrespective of cost. I know, I used to photograph thousands of weddings. The bridal market is huge, with the average pre-lockdown wedding costing over £30,000. Don’t miss out – get in now!

What Brides Expect
No one skimps on their wedding. Packages are out. Couples want individualism to represent them on their special day. A unique design to last a lifetime. Most prefer traditional style, but some like a modern, completely different look. Get to know the couple – ask what they like.

Stuck For Ideas?
Bridal JewelleryFor inspiration, look in wedding magazines and blogs. Search Google Images for ‘handmade wedding jewellery’.

Make In Advance
If you want to exploit the bridal market, create wedding sets to promote to possible couples, bridesmaids and in-laws. Match your beads to the colour of the dress, and match maid of honour jewellery to the bride’s. Make your pictures and designs stand out from other wedding designs – photograph dramatic styles.

Promote
Market yourself as a wedding jewellery designer. On Twitter, Facebook, and design a bridal website. Sell cheap wedding jewellery on eBay, then try to get buyers to spend more on individual designs.

What to Make
White is the obvious colour, but pinks and other pale colours can work too.
• Bracelets
• Necklaces
• Earrings
• Tiaras
• Hair bands, pins & combs
• Sew tiny pearls or crystal beads onto the bride and bridesmaid gowns
• Jewellery sets in a beautiful box – ideal for gifts to the mothers
• Tiny matching designs for the flower girls
• Cuff links & cravat tie pins – for the bridegroom and gifts for the best man and usher.

Materials:
• Pearl beads
• Crystal beads
• Heart beads
• Silver thread and beads
• White and pink flower beads
• Light amethyst beads
• Small AB and sparking beads
• Gold thread & beads
• Flower, star or icicle beads
• White feathers

DRUZY BEADS

Druzy BeadsDruzy beads are great for a focal point in a necklace or bracelet. So each string can go a long way, making them not too expensive. No wonder they’re so popular!

They stand out because of their unusual display inside the beads – like a miniature geode.

Druzy BeadsUsually crystal, but can be other semi-precious stone – all natural with a coating of crystals. People like them because everyone can see the naturalness.

Druzy BeadsDruzy’s are formed by mineral deposits seeping through cavities in a stone and crystallize on the surface to form a bright sparkle.
